Oreo Truffles
Hungry for Ms. Page's famous oreo truffles? Here's the recipe!
Oreo Truffles
Ingredients:
· 1 pkg. oreos
· 8 oz. cream cheese (whipped cream cheese is best)
· 1 pkg. almond bark, OR 2 small bags white chocolate chips
· The almond bark from Benedicts works the best for this (not Wal-Marts –it doesn’t melt well)
· ½ pkg. chocolate chips (any kind, but I like milk chocolate)
Directions:
1. Crush oreos. (I try not to crush mine too small.)
2. Soften cream cheese and mix with oreos. (I like to use whipped cream cheese which doesn't need to be softened. Also, I use an electric mixer for this step.)
3. Shape mixture into balls and place on a cookie sheet covered with wax paper or tinfoil. Place in refrigerator. (Your hands will get messy on this step.)
4. Let truffles cool in fridge for 15-20 minutes. This will help them keep their shape.
5. Melt almond bark or white chocolate over a low heat. When truffles are cooled, dip them in the chocolate then place back on the tray. Return tray to fridge.
6. Melt chocolate chips. Pour into small plastic bag and cut the corner off (just a TINY piece) so you can squeeze the chocolate out (like a pastry bag). Drizzle chocolate over the truffles. Return to fridge.
7. Truffles may be served straight from fridge or at room temperature.
8. Enjoy!!
Note, I like to experiment with different flavors. You can try different types of chocolate chips as well as different flavors of oreos. Recently I've used peanut butter oreos, but the regular oreos remain my favorite.
